Resources for the Boston Queer Community

This is my most challenging, and also most rewarding, project to date. I wanted to create an online database that would be both useful and meaningful, so I chose to make a website that compiles resources for the queer community in Boston. This project was a challenge to build because I was learning Ember as well as deepening my understanding of Rails simply by using and combining the two technologies. It was especially difficult to determine how exactly the two technologies interacted, so I'm very happy with the functionality of the resulting product.

Git JEB!

This project was equal parts learning about developing as part of a team and learning to code. While we were familiar with the necessary front-end technologies, all three of us on the team were unfamiliar with the tools necessary to build the back end - MongoDB, Mongoose, Express, and Amazon Web Services - so it was interesting and rewarding to navigate the learning process in a group. In the end, we each focused on learning and building different aspects of the application, and brought what we learned back to the team. This proved efficient and effective, and we were all happy with the final product, which serves as a simple imitation of dropbox.

Act App

Act App is the first full-stack project I built the front and back end of myself. It aims to be a social media platform for activists to promote their events. While it is simple and has room for improvement, I am happy with what I was able to learn a lot in the process of building it. I was especially excited to gain an understanding of how the front and back end connect and interact with each other.

Tic Tac Toe

My very first web development project, this simple game of tic tac toe solidified my understanding of the basic principles of HTML/CSS and JavaScript. While the code for my game logic is admittedly messy, given my limited experience with coding prior to this project and the brief timeline I built it in, I am very happy with how it turned out.
